Like many other mother-daughter relationship, Kate and Goldie have a complicated one.
However, growing up under public scrutiny took its toll on the two – and affected their relationship for good.
Despite being deprived of having her biological father around, Kate never felt as though it was her fault her father was gone, nor did she think she missed out on anything due to his absence: “I never felt it was about [my dad] losing interest.
Award-winning actress Kate Hudson is very close with her mother, Goldie Hawn – a relationship that is much different than one she has with her birth father.
After he left, Goldie started seeing Hollywood heartthrob Kurt Russell, which gave the young blonde easy access when breaking into the industry.
Wyatt was Goldie and Kurt’s child and made Kate feel insecure at first.
“[Kate] came to the hospital [and said]: ‘Mommy, I’m so happy I’m your only girl.’ I said, ‘I’m so happy too, honey,'” said Hawn in her interview.
Instead of seeking a father figure, Kate found comfort in her mom.
It is no surprise Goldie Hawn made the best mother – her accepting, easy going, and warm personality formed the perfect equation for a woman who took two very major roles in her daughter’s life: a parent and a best friend. Her long list of ex-lovers include Hawn’s first husband, dancer-turned-director Gus Trikonis, stuntman Ted Grossman and Swedish actor Bruno Wintzell.Later, Goldie met Hudson and the two became engaged to be married – despite the fact Hawn didn’t file for divorce from Trikonis until New Year’s Eve 1975.Many years later, it was daughter Kate who tied the knot with rocker Chris Robinson. Her stepdad, Kurt, commented on this engagement, stating: “I’m never worried about Kate. After the post went viral and generated thousands of comments debating whether or not the message was necessary, Kate came to her brother’s defense and posted a picture of her own – with one major difference. I love you to the moon and back.” Consequently, Oliver decided to set aside the negative message and focus on the positive aspects of the same day he found intolerable ever since his parents parted ways.
