She was 15 as a freshman her boyfriend was 16 turning 17 a couple days after she turned 16 he was a senior. You never know if someone was held back, someone started early etc etc..
We had a rule about when our daughter could start dating, not until she got to high school.

As a general rule, I think that age gap is too much at that particular age.
Yes, you can argue that maybe the senior is young and the freshman is old, but then the opposite could be true... In any case, for argument's sake, we'll say 3 years.

The issue isn't the physical age gap but the mental age gap. Generally, there are vast differences in the mental states of people at those ages.
A high school freshman is generally way different from a high school senior. The mental gap between a fifteen and seventeen-year-old is vastly different than that of a twenty-two and twenty-four-year-old.I will respond as a caring dad and u will feel like an idiot...... Before she is married ALL men in her life ANSWER to ME..shes married , men answer to her husband..on an outing you will represent good worthiness to yourselves as a couple in safe, enjoyable and positive contribution to life..thats the doorbell u just rang d) Thats the deal..is a person who rightfully desires a positive life.Absolutely no overnighters, as well rules in dating schedual e) have fun and I hope we can be friends.In some May/December relationships (whether it be with teens or full fledged adults) that difference in experience becomes a big issue. Of course there are some freshmen boys who are having sex.The younger person really needs an equal in order to grow into their fullest version of themselves, a peer who is going through the same things where they can make mistakes side by side. The older person has already made those mistakes and is more likely to try to impart wisdom and guide or assist (with no harmful intent) the younger person's choices rather than be a true peer and equal. However as you go through the grades, the percentage of "experienced" people is going to rise.A 17 year old is at a different place developmentally than a 14 year old.
